  • Joseph A. Ferree, Jr., Natrona Hgts, PA., publisher of "The McCandless and Related Families", 1977, based on the research of Joseph A. Ferree, Sr., "all rights reserved". Our attempts to contact Mr. Ferree by phone & mail, at the address & number used in 1988 to purchase his book, have failed in 2007. Our letter was returned marked unable to deliver. The limited quotations from his book included in this website are done based on his introductory statement that "hopefully it will provide a basis for a more complete history of the McCandless family."
    Update July 2010: "Joe died in 2003 & his wife Vera died in 1997", per Jan Finke (see Wilson contributors) who is attempting to contact family members.
