- There is an obituary for "Warren Church" which I believe to be Erastus' son Erastus Warren Church which states that Warren was born in VT in 1832, moved when he was "quite young" to Greenfield, IN, with his parents, who then relocated again in 1854 to Sugar Creek, IN.

R1 | Personal Research of Laurence Seitz. Mr. Seitz has prepared an in-depth document describing the descendants of Samuel Church and Elizabeth Stickney. While most data in this document are thoroughly sourced, a few items--particularly those relating to Samuel and Elizabeth--are referenced to public trees found on Ancestry.com. We do not consider Ancestry.com trees to be a reliable source of good data, so anything found here that is only referenced to this source should be considered conjectural at best. Because Mr. Seitz has done such a good job of referencing his sources, we have been able to duplicate many of those sources above. | N/A

R3 | 1830 United States Federal Census, Panton Twp., Addison Co., Vermont, page 1. Census is not dated. Entry #4 from bottom: Family headed by Erastus Church: 2 males <5, 1 male 10-15, 1 male 20-30, 1 male 40-50, 1 females 5-10, 1 female 20-30, 1 female 30-40. Our Erastus would be 22 at this time and Lucy would be 23 and they wouldn't have had any kids yet. They would have been married for 2 years. So if this is them, there's a bunch of kids that aren't theirs as well as a couple of older people. Possible but unlikely. |
- I called the Orange town clerk's office and asked them for birth records for the family name Church, but the oldest one they had in their archives was from 1819 (for a William Church).
- I spoke with the Rochester, VT, clerk's office (Joanne McDonnell) and she indicated that they have no records at all for Erastus Church, Lucy Whitten, Caroline/Carolyn Church, or Erastus W. Church. The only Church birth records they have are from the 1900s. She suggested that I try neighboring towns such as Hancock and Ripton.
