*Among the identifiable names in the Ltrs. of Admin. of Joseph St. Clair are his father Archibald; his brothers John, Robert and Archibald Jr.; John McDavitt, husband of his sister Jane St. Clair; Samuel, J. W., and James Thompson (sister Mary St. Clair married a Thompson).  It appears that Joseph died relatively young (age 22-32 yrs) with minor children; Thomas Brandon is appointed guardian. This is his brother-in-law [[Thomas Branand]], brother of widow [[Susannah Branand]] St. Clair.

* In the Letters of Administration of Joseph St. Clair, the script appears in one place to say "Archibald St. Clair, son"; but elsewhere to be "Archibald St.Clair, sen."  It could be that Joseph had a son Archibald, but more likely that both these entries designate Archibald Sr., father of Joseph.  In both entries, the articles from the estate are farm equipment, an unlikely bequeath to a young child.

[edit] Source notes

  • Among the identifiable names in the Ltrs. of Admin. of Joseph St. Clair are his father Archibald; his brothers John, Robert and Archibald Jr.; John McDavitt, husband of his sister Jane St. Clair; Samuel, J. W., and James Thompson (sister Mary St. Clair married a Thompson). It appears that Joseph died relatively young (age 22-32 yrs) with minor children; Thomas Brandon was appointed guardian. Thomas Branand was his brother-in-law, brother of his widow, Susannah Brannand St. Clair.

[edit] Conjecture

  • In the Letters of Administration of Joseph St.
