John Henry McDevitt, aged 74, died at 6 a.m. Sunday (i.e. 7 Nov. 1926) at his home in West Liberty after a lingering illness. He was a prominent farmer and spent all his life in that district.
Mr. McDevitt is survived by the following: His widow, Mrs. Rebecca (Hines) McDevitt; six sons, Elmer, W. W., Harry, R. E., Jesse and Eugene McDevitt, all of West Liberty; four daughters, Mrs. Thomas Mayer of West Liberty, Mrs. James Moon of Lockport, N.Y., Mrs. Lawrence Hilgar of Grove City, and Mrs. Paul Book of Chicora; three sisters, Mrs. Theresa McClymonds of Coraopolis, Mrs. Robert Dickson of Slippery Rock, and Miss Keziah McDevitt of West Liberty; three brothers, W. E, D. W., and Ross McDevitt of West Liberty.
Funeral services will be held at the residence at 2 p.m. Tuesday, conducted by Rev. Ira Scott of Slippery Rock. Burial will be made in West Liberty cemetery.
