Andrew Stoughton
Andrew Stoughton was the third child of his parents, John and Catherine Covert Stoughton. His two older brothers were born in New Jersey, but Andrew was born in 1802, the year his parents arrived in Butler County PA. Andrew was the third of nine children, and among the five boys, he was the middle brother. In 1825, when Andrew was 23 yrs. old, he married Mary Glenn, and they raised a family of nine children, four boys and five girls. The children married into the families of Campbell, Davis, McCandless and Hockenberry. Andrew lived through the years of the Civil War, and died a year after it ended. He wrote his will in early December of 1866, and died one month later, January 1867. He was sixty-five years old.

Mt. Zion Baptist Church's present day location is in Franklin Twp.; location of original Muddy Creek Baptist Church now known to this researcher. If Andrew Stoughton donated land for the church, it may have been in Clay Twp., where it appears his land lay.
