Transcribed by Jim Voltz (see Contributors).

In the name of god, Amen. I John Boyle of Muddy Creek Township Butler County being sick of body but of sound mind and memory and calling to mind the immortality of the soul and that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner following. It is my desire that six hundred dollars in money be put to interest sure persons hands the interest of which is to be paid to my wife Sarah Boyle yearly during her life if she keeps unmarried but if she marry then the interest shall cease and the principle be divided amongst the Heirs as shall afterwards be described. At the Death or marriage of my wife Sarah this six hundred dollars shall be divided between my six children Jenny, John (Senior?), Nancy, Thomas, Martha, and David Boyle. That is one hundred dollars to each and should any of them die before they arrive at the possession of their dividends their share shall be equally divided between the rest if they haven't any heirs, but if heirs it goes to their heirs and the balance of my estates I want divided as follows. My two Daughters Nancy and Martha I ...to have as much after the notes are paid up ...to each as shall ...buy them a good bed and beau row and two or three gowns apiece. It is my desire that my son John receive forty dollars but I want it understood that the six hundred dollars what is wanting of it be collected and applied to interest for the benefit of my wife and child first and there are twenty dollars coming to me from the state of Ohio which I allow to be give to my wife Sarah and as touching the house affairs it is my desire that all articles that she can lay her hand upon and say she brought them with her when we were married shall be given her. I also will her my Bible and all the dresser furniture. After John has got his forty Dollars and Nancy and Martha their beds and beau rows whatever remains in notes and personal property to sell must amount to upward of one hundred and fifty dollars, this I allow to be put to interest that in case any of them should become ailing that they may make application to this fund and it shall be dealt out to them at the judgment of the executors. It is my desire that my wife have all the wheat and corn on the place, and she can loan it out to persons who may want and receive ti from them as she need it. All the other grain remaining may be sold. I also will her the choice of the cows. It is my desire that my son Thomas receive forty dollars as soon as his time be up to buy him a set of tools. I would inform my execturos that there is an article ??? between my brother David and me the difference between the receipts on its back and face would show it to be upwards of one hundred dollars in my favor but there are receipts in his possession unaltered in my own hand writing the one I think for ten dollars and the other for thirty dollars these added to what is on the back and then the difference between the back and face shows what is coming on. One which I estimate to be about seventy dollars. This he may have four or five years to pay it in without interest and then you are requested to make him a deed, in fee simple for fifty acres of land of my fathers estate sold by me unto him and this I want equally divided between my children whatever remains of the fund that John, Nancy, Thomas, and Martha receives their parts out of may be equally divided amongst them when my son David shall arrive at his sixteenth year should he live or in that year should he die. And I do appoint John Glenn of Muddy Creek Township Butler County and John McDeavitt of Slippery Rock Township Butler County Executors of this my last will and testament to render and dispose of all things in my room and place and I renounce all other wills and acknowledge this only as my last will and testament. Dec. 16th 1830. John Boyle.
