1 1900 United States Federal Census, Charlotte Township, Mecklenburg County, NC, Enumeration District 43, Page 20, lines 94-100 and Page 21 line 1 lists Edmon M. Williams, 31, born Mar 1868, married to Mary A. Williams, 30, born Apr 1870. They live with three children and three boarders: son John D. Williams, 7, born Mar 1893; son Will M. Williams, 3, born May 1895; son James M. Williams, 1, born May[?] 1898; boarder James Collie[?], 30, born Jan 1870; boarder Archabel[??] Birkie, 28, born Dec 1872, and boarder "Walker Beacher", 25, born Jan 1875. Edmon M. Williams and Mary A. Williams have been married for 8 years. Mary A. Williams has born four children, three of which are still living. All of the Williams family and their parents were born in NC, and the same with Mr. Birkie and Mr. Beacher. Mr. Collie and his parents were born in VA. Edmon M. Williams' occupation is listed as "Cloth Inspector / Mill". Mary A. Williams' occupation is "seamstress." John D. Williams is listed as being in school. Mr. Birkie's occupation is illegible. Mr. Collie's occupation is "Weaver (Cotton Mill)." Mr. Beacher's occupation is "Clerk (Dry Goods)." All of the adults can read, write, and speak English. These census pages are dated 13 and 14 Jun 1900, respectively. Margin notes by the enumerator indicate that the Williams family lived on "Davidson St." Furthermore, this was the first record from that street, suggesting that perhaps they lived on a corner lot.

2 1910 United States Federal Census, Charlotte Township, Mecklenburg County, NC, Enumeration District 97, Page 4, lines 4-11 lists E. M. Williams, 42, married to Mary A. Williams. They live with six children: son John D. Williams, 17; son William M. Williams, 14; son James M. Williams, 11; son Walker F. Williams, 8; son Lee[?] Otto Williams, 6; and daughter Gertrude Williams, 2. E.M. Williams and Mary A. Williams have been married for 18 years. Mary A. Williams has born seven children, six of which are still living. Everyone and their parents were born in NC. Everyone but Gertrude can speak English. Everyone but Gertrude and Otto can read English. Everyone but Gertrude, Otto, and Walker can write English. All of the children except Gertrude and Otto attended school within the census year. E.M. Williams' occupation is listed as a mail carrier for the postal service. John D. Williams' occupation is listed as a sign painter in a shop. The census page is dated 16 Apr 1910.

Williams, head, age 18, trainee, Charlotte, NC Address 19 N. Long (??), marine. This census fits for the son of Edmond Maxton Williams, but no other available evidence supports this relationship.
