McCandless, are the households of Joseph Hockenberry and William Hockenberry. Joseph Hockenberry is age 64, married to Elizabeth. William Hockenberry is age 33, married to Delilah. Joseph Hockenberry is an uncle of Jane "Jennie" McCandless, who in this 1850 census appears as the widow of "Swamp" James McCandless. Joseph Hockenberry is the brother of her mother, Jane Hockenberry. William Hockenberry may be a cousin of Jane "Jennie" McCandless, a son of her uncle Casper Hockenberry. |

Married Margaret Shaffer; lists 8 children: Annie who married Jonathan Wimer; Joseph, a resident of Butler; Catherine, wife of J. J. Baker; Hannah, deceased wife of William Gallagher; Effie, wife of Joseph Forrester; Mahala, wife of Sheplar Boston; William, who died recently in Worth township, and Mary, wife of Elijah Rolls.
