His grandfather Thomas Petterson and his maternal great-grandfather both served in the Revolutionary War. His mother was Hannah Stoughton, descendant of New England settlers including Dutch settlers of Manhattan.William E. Patterson engaged in farming and teaching in Butler Co. In Lawrence Co. he engaged in general mercantile at Rose Point, then moved on 1 Oct. 1894 to New Castle where he operates a graocery business. He married Annie J. Macom of Scott Twp., Lawrence Co., who died Jan. 1905 leaving 6 sons & 3 daughters, all of New Castle. Served as J. P., as school board member and president. Member Central Presbyterian church, A. F. & A. Masons and the Knights of Maccabees. |
