Source Notes

  • Source 4: Gravestone of Edmund Andrews and wife; A memorial on FindAGrave.com apparently by Happy Little as it mentions the old slate marker rather than the new granite stone. No sources are indicated. "Grave marker for Edmund Andrews Sr. and his wife Priscilla Hancock. The marker is a flat piece of slate stone and the letters are hand etched into the stone. This type of slate stone is quite abundant in this area. Edmund is a son of Alexander Andrews, the son of John Andrews Sr. that remained in Montgomery County after John and his other children and their families packed off to the new state of Tennessee to settle there. Edmund's brother, Seth Sr, is from whom I am directly descended. Edmund's wife Priscilla Hancock may have been buried next to Edmund as her name is chiseled into the stone also. The stone is not anchored into the ground or is stationary in any way, which could leave one to question exactly where Edmund and Priscilla are buried, but they are buried at old Zion Methodist Church in Montgomery County." We suggest this be used only for further research.
