3	History of Butler County Pennsylvania 1895pg. 1244 Richard Hines came to America in 1800 with his wife and five of his children: Richard, George, Eleanor, Betty, and Jane. He left two children behind in Ireland: Alexander and Susan. Both of these children later immigrated; Alexander died at the home of his parents, and Susan hines Gibson resided in Worth Twp. Richard Jr. settled in Brady Twp. and married Betsy Brandon. Two of his children were named Eli and Mrs. Mary Gibson.	(See complete text)
4	History of Butler County Pennsylvania 1895 pg. 1240 Christopher Wimer came from Adams Co., PA, to Butler Co., PA in 1798 and settled in Worth Twp. He married Miss Snyder of Adams Co., and together they had seven children named Samuel, John, Peter, Jonathan, William, Isaac, and Rebecca. Rebecca married Thomas Kelly. Christopher's son Samuel Wimer was born in Adams Co. in 1792. He died in 1873. He married Elizabeth Hines, daughter of Richard Hines, and had four children: Samuel of Worth Twp., Mary J., deceased wife of James Abinett, Abner, and George. At the time of this publication (1895), Samuel Jr. was living with his brother George on the 210 acre farm they inherited from Samuel Sr.	transcript

Conjecture

• Is Susan Hines Gibson also Susannah Hines Brannan? From the biographical sketch of Robert Barron, (p. 1244, 1895 Hist. of Butler Co.) grandson of Susan Hines, it is apparent that all of the children of Richard Hines eventually immigrated to America. Susan Hines was married in Ireland to James Gibson, and their daughter Margaret Gibson married David Barron. David left wife Margaret and son Robert Barron in Ireland, came to the U.S. and died in Steubenville, OH. Margaret remarried to George Dixon. Robert Barron came to the U.S. when age 17, (so, about 1849), and shortly went to live with his grandmother Susan Gibson of Worth Twp., Butler Co. Therefore, Susan must have immigrated before 1849. As the biography does not mention his grandfather, it is possible that Susan Hines Gibson immigrated after her husband James Gibson died in Ireland (or,that Robert Barron came to live with her after James Gibson died in the U.S.). In any case, she appears to be a widow.
  Our ancestor William Brannan married a Susanna Hines, and the question remains whether she was the daughter of Richard Hines. If so, it would be her second marriage. Born in 1776, she would be aged about 73 in 1849, although she may have immigrated much earlier. Was she the 2nd wife of Wm. Brannan and not the father of his children, of did William marry a different Susannah Hines? William and Susanna Brannan are buried together at Wolf Creek cemetery, as is usual for the parents of children to be buried together, when there is more than one spouse.
  The Wm. Brannan and Richard Hines families do have the connection that Elizabeth Brandon, daughter of Wm. Brannan, married Richard Hines, Jr. If Susannah were a daughter of Richard Hines, then Elizabeth Brandon would be marrying her uncle, which is extremely unlikely. We conclude that this Susannah Hines is not the daughter of Richard, but expect some relationship not yet established.
