Source notes
- Sale of land from John Stoughton Estate (source 17): The will of John Stoughton (d. 1833) specified that the land in his estate (100 acres) be maintained by for the support of his wife Catherine (Covert) until her death. Court documents from 1849 and 1850 indicate that a portion (20 acres) was sold to cover debts from the estate of Jacob Stoughton (son of John) who was the original administrator of the estate but died in 1841. The estate was now being handled by John Stoughton, presumably Jacob's younger brother. Documents from 1857 - 58 indicate that the rest of the land was sold and the remainder of the estate settled. This would suggest that Catherine had died around 1857. The estate was now being handled by James S. Stoughton, the younger John having died in 1852.
