Joseph Hockenberry is an uncle of Jane "Jennie" McCandless, who in this 1850 census appears as the widow of "Swamp" James McCandless. Joseph Hockenberry is the brother of her mother, Jane Hockenberry. William Hockenberry may be a cousin of Jane "Jennie" McCandless, a son of her uncle Casper Hockenberry.
