+ | * Correspondence (from a Paula, from Florida, a descendant of Samuel & Catherine Beals, to Jackie Dietz, forward to Duane Beals): " Hiram, b. 07-31-1840, d. est. 1925. Hiram and his wife had '''10 kids'''. Hiram served in C. War Co. G 155 PVI fought 18 battles. In article it states that he was the son of Jacob Beals of German descent, a native of Berks County , PA. His daughter Anna mrd. William Freeman. Dr. Wernie Beals did not marry Daisy Altman, that was his brother Harry S. Beals wife. His daughter Francis Pearl b. 11-01-1873, d. 12-31-1959 mrd. John Ashbaugh, had 2 kids." If she is quoting the article in the biography in Commemorative Biographical Record of Central Pennsylvania (see above), she may have miss-counted the children's names. Otherwise, an indication of 10 children lends credence to a Charles Weaver born 1887. Never-the-less, by the 1900 census, the mother Sarah reported 9 children born. | ||

Hiram Beals would not have been a landowner by the time of the 1865 Pomeroy map of Clarion County. By 1877 he may have been living in St. Petersburg, but did not own a farm, and individual homes in St. Petersburg are not indicated on the 1877 Caldwell Atlas.

Source Notes
The 1900 census reports the family had 9 children, 8 surviving. Of the six not listed in 1900, two do not have spouses on our record. Either William or Alice did not survive childhood. Duane Beals notes a death date of 1885 for Alice, death date unknown for William. Census for 1910 and 1860 were searched with no results.
Conjecture
- With no additional data except the apparent location of the grave of Betty Beals Johnson in the family plot of Dr. Wearne C. Beals & wife Margaret A., it is tentatively assumed that Betty is their daughter.
- Charles Weaver Beals born Sept1887 (or 23Jan 1888), in records or Duane S. Beals, appears to be possibly a duplication/miss-transcription of Wearne Charles Beals. Duane Beals' source of this record is missing or unrecorded. We expect that only Wearne C. Beals was born in 1888.
- Correspondence (from a Paula, from Florida, a descendant of Samuel & Catherine Beals, to Jackie Dietz, forward to Duane Beals): " Hiram, b. 07-31-1840, d. est. 1925. Hiram and his wife had 10 kids.
