<br> Note that John Frederick Dietrich was born in Hitzerode Germany in 1822, the same town and year as our ancestor [[John Frederick]].  John Frederick Dietrich settled in Allegheny County PA in 1840; his brother Wilhelm "William" Dietrich, also born in Hitzerode but in 1827, settled in Clarion Co. PA (date unknown to us) as did our John Frederick in 1852.  Our John Frederick is thought to have made his initial trip to Pennsylvania in 1852, alone, perhaps to purchase land before returning for the 2nd voyage with his wife in 1852.  It is possible he met with John Frederick Dietrich or brother William at the time of this first trip, to confer about available land; John Frederick Dietrich, and possibly brother William, having arrived in 1840 would have been well settled by 1852.    Eventually two children of John Frederick would marry children of John Frederick Dietrich.

[edit] Immigrant by 1840

[edit] NOT A DIRECT ANCESTOR

John Frederick Dietrich is not in my direct ancestry. His son William Dietrich married Mary Frederick, and his daughter Louise Dietrich married Frank J. Frederick.
Mary and Frank Frederick are related as follows:

The Dietrich and Jung families immigrated from Hitzerode, Germany, to Clarion County PA, as did the Frederick family.

John Frederick Dietrich was born in 1822, confirmed at age 16, and worked as a wagon maker in Germany. He immigrated to America, and by 1840 was settled in Allegheny County PA. He wed Anna Elizabeth Meyers in PA and in 1849 their first child was born. In Oct. 1855 John Dietrich became a U.S. citizen.

Note that John Frederick Dietrich was born in Hitzerode Germany in 1822, the same town and year as our ancestor John Frederick.

[edit] Source notes

  • Per the research of Wilda Dietrich(DeHart), Will Dietrich, son of John Frederick Dietrich, brought his family to his parent's farm in Indiana Twp., Allegheny Co. PA, and is buried in Etna Cemetery. It is therefore possible that his parents are also buried there.

[edit] Conjecture

  • Death records kept by the city of Pittsburgh between 1851 & 1857 (only the index is available), pg 89 lists Eliza Dithrich died 1854. Her relationship if any is unknown. An alphabetized listing for names beginning with "A" to "E" is published in Western Pennsylvanian Genealogical Society Quarterly, Vol. 34, No. 3, 2008, p. 15-36.
