The following biography is from "The Wimer Family" by Paul W. Myers, pp. 51-52

William Wimer, the fifth son of Christopher and Sophia Wimer, was born on the Wimer Homestead in Worth Township on July 5, 1807.
He remained at home assisting his parents with the farm, first being listed on the township tax rolls in 1829 as a farmer and a "single man".

William married Elizabeth __________ on February 28, 1833, and they established their home in the vicinity of the Samuel Wimer farm. In 1835, they settled on the eastern half of 1st Donation District Lot No. 160, on which William's brother Isaac had most recently resided. Several years later, William and Elizabeth purchased a 21 acre field from Isaac Wimer to increase their tillable acreage. The field was part of 1st Donation District Lot No. 157, adjoining William's farm on the north.

Following the death of William's parents in early 1842, he joined with the other Wimer heirs in granting a quit-claim deed on the old Wimer Homestead to his brother Isaac, on July 14, 1842. On the same date, William received a deed from the other Wimer heirs for the eastern half of 1st Donation District Lot No. 160 on which he lived. The farm was granted to him by a quit-claim deed for the sum of $1.00 because William had not yet received a dower from his parents.

The Wimers purchased an additional 40 acres from Thomas Stoughton on July 22, 1852, for the sum of $400. They also acquired an additional 13 acres from the southwest corner of 1st Donation District Lot No. 157 on Feb. 25, 1861, for $250. Other land transactions of William and Elizabeth Wimer went unrecorded at Butler Courthouse.

William Wimer died on April 11, 1865, at the age of 57 years, 9 months and 6 days. Elizabeth Wimer survived her husband a few years, and because they had remained members of the Wolf Creek Seceder Church, interment was made in the adjoining cemetery.

Because William had died intestate the family asked their neighbor, John Humphrey, to become administrator of the estate. To pay William's many accounts, Humphrey sold 136 acres, 32 perches of the farm on Lot No. 160 to William Cross on Feb. 27, 1866 for the sum of $5,193.79. This included 100 cultivated acres, a new "plank" house, orchard, and the double log barn. After all accounts were paid, the remaining funds were divided among the heirs. The only land remaining to the Wimer Farm was a 58 acre tract which the heirs eventually sold to Finley Wimer in 1868. The four children of William and Elizabeth Wimer are as follows: Christopher b. Jan. 8, 1834; James b. Apr. 3, 1837; John N. b.1840; Philip Snyder b. Apr 17, 1843.
