Source notes

  • The identity of this grandfather of the three immigrant brothers is completely unknown to us; he is presumed to have been Irish and to have remained in Ireland. The McCandless family had Scottish ancestry, so he may have been born in Scotland. All information is from the research of Joseph A. Ferree, and the publication of his work by Joseph A. Ferree, Jr. in 1977.
