Margaret L. ‘Peg’ Kahle Margaret L. “Peg” Kahle, 95, of Hill Street, Emlenton, the longtime president of Emlenton Cemetery Co. and the widow of state Rep. G. Alvin Kahle, died of congestive heart failure on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009 at her residence. Born Nov. 30, 1914, in Oil City, she was the daughter of Louis D. and Florence Sharrar Segui. Mrs. Kahle had lived in Emlenton since 1932. Prior to that, she lived in Noblestown, Allegheny County. Throughout the course of her life, she had been employed by Bowie’s Bakery, Taylor’s Market, Sheffer Chevrolet in Emlenton and later at Glass Containers in Parker, where she retired on Nov. 30, 1974, after more than 20 years of service. She was married to G. Alvin Kahle on Sept. 9, 1961. He preceded her in death on Oct. 27, 1986. For many years she enjoyed her yard and flowers, and most of all, genealogy. In 1977 she completed her family genealogy and became so fascinated with the study of genealogy that she went on to help many others both near and far with theirs. Mrs. Kahle maintained hundreds of obituaries and cemetery interment records. Thanks to Hazel Sheffer Crawford, Peg also had a list of each class that graduated from Emlenton High School since its beginning in 1888. She also served on the board of the Pumping Jack Museum. Politics also had been an important part of her life, and on Oct. 28, 2004, the Venango County Republican Committee honored her for more than 50 years of extraordinary commitment and service to the party. Mrs. Kahle is survived by a daughter, Doris Jean Wilson of Olmstead Township, Ohio; two stepsons, Donald A. Kahle of Salem, Ore., and Keith A. Kahle of Atlanta, Ga.; three grandchildren, twins John C. Moses and his wife, Kimberly, of Salisbury, Md., and Robert C. Moses of Ellendale, Del., and Cynthia Jean Vojtek and her husband, Thomas, of North Olmstead, Ohio; five step-grandchildren, Lisa Kahle Shafer, Brian Kahle, Beth Kahle Mounts, David Kahle and Stephanie Kahle; seven great-grandchildren, Emily Jean and Holly Renee Vojtek, Bailey Anne, Jordan McKenzie and Michael John Moses and Madison Beth and Allison Margaret Moses; and eight step-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Peg was preceded in death by three brothers, Louis D. Segui, Frederick J. Segui and William R. Segui, and one stepgrandchild. Friends will be received from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 1 p.m. Sunday at Hile Funeral Home Inc., 1204 Kerr Ave., Emlenton. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Lori Danielson, pastor of Emlenton Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will be in the Emlenton Cemetery.
