Bernard Kline Sheffer, age 54, of Lebanon, IN, formerly of Emlenton, was killed instantly in an auto accident in Indiana on Wednesday. Born in Emlenton 21 Nov 1921, son of Austin and Anna Kline Sheffer. A veteran of WW II, he served in the US Navy for 42 months. Married Louise Peters 3 Feb 1946. She survives. In addition, he is survived by a son: Edward Sheffer of Parker; and two daughters: Mrs. Glenn (Linda) Speckman of Indianapolis, IN and Mrs. Timothy (Elizabeth) Ranney of Lebanon, IN. Also surviving are two sisters: Mrs. Earl (Hazel) Crawford of Emlenton and Ailene Sheffer of Pittsburgh; two brothers: Arthur Sheffer of Foxburg and Frederick Sheffer of Philadelphia; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A brother, Elmer Sheffer of Emlenton preceded him in death. Arrangements by Criswell Funeral Home. Services conducted by Rev. Daniel Stinson of the United Methodist Church of Emlenton on Saturday at 2pm. Internment in Emlenton Cemetery.

Timothy Lee Ranney, 58, of Westfield, formerly of Lebanon, died 27 Sept 2015. Born May 31, 1957, in Lebanon, a son of Charles A. Ranney and the late Marilyn M.(Jett) Ranney he attended Pinnell Elementary School, graduated from Ben Davis High School, Indianapolis. Married Betsy Sheffer in 1976. Two sons, Jim and Rob. Wife, Betsy, died in 2006. Tim married Lynda Harbison Mockler in 2015. Lynda had daughters previously. Tim worked 28 years as mechanical engineer for Roche Diabetes Care. Final care by St. Vincent Hospital and St. Vincent Hospice. Preceded in death by his mother, Marilyn (Jett) Ranney on 5 Sept 1998; wife Betsy (Sheffer) Ranney on 19 June 2006; infant brother Arthur on 8 June 1950; and stepsister Lori (Hysong Moore) on 12 March 2014. Survived by wife Lynda (Harbison Mockler) Ranney of Westfield; son James and wife Jane (Hagenow Hurtado), and their children, Christina, Isabella, Claire and Ethan, all of Lockport, Ill.; son, Robert, his wife Alicia (Rhine), and daughters, Olivia and Vivian, all of Indianapolis. Edward J. Sheffer, 77, of Franklin, formerly of West Freedom, Parker, Emlenton area, died on Saturday Oct. 9, 2021 at Autumn Grove. Born 29 March 1944, son of the late Louise Peters Sheffer Leary and Bern Sheffer. He later married Pamela "Pam" Bottomley. He worked as a truck driver. Served in U.S. Army as Transportation Specialist E-2; Vietnam War Veteran; member of VFW Post 1835, Franklin. Protestant by faith. Survived by sister, Linda Spoonamore of Indianapolis; aunt, Velma Stewart of West Freedom; nieces, nephews, cousins. Preceded in death by his parents; sister, Elizabeth Ranney; and grandfather Burton Peters. A memorial service to be held in November, H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home assisting the family.
