Source notes

The sequence seems to be as follows:

  • William Allen Herron married a McDowell (possibly Esther) before 1790 and had several children including William McDowell Herron and Allen, Herron Jr.
  • Allen Herron, Jr. married Isabella Johnston in 1828.
  • Allen Herron and his wife died after 1830.
  • Allen Jr. appears to die before 1850, leaving Isabella a widow with children. Since the youngest child is 7, one would assume Allen Jr. died between 1842 and 1845.

1 Gravestone of William Gallen Herron. Findagrave.com includes a photo and transcription of a stone in Steele Creek Presbyterian Cemetery for William Gallen Herron, d, 1826. We believe that William Allen Herron was alive after 1830, but the location and name seem possible for William Allen Herron. The stone is badly deteriorated and it is not possible to completely verify the transcription from the photo, but the "William Gallen Herron" transcription seems accurate given the spacing and shape of the letters.
