Research
- Searches of the 1860 and 1850 census using the Ancestry.com index failed to find a Laura or Elizabeth Stewart who definitively met the age and location expectations for Laura Elizabeth Stewart. There were Elizabeth and Eliza Stewarts in the state, but not in Mecklenburg or the nearby counties.
