- John Scarboro does not appear to be living with Ben Franklin Scarbrough by the 1910 census. This might indicate that he died between 1900 and 1910.

R8 | Examination of the census for Montgomery Co, in 1840 shows that a page was missed in the scan by Ancestry.com. Both page 26 and 27 of the "East of Pee Dee" district are "second pages" of the listing. The page listing heads of household that should be p. 27 is missing. This is significant since the families of interest are on pages 23 and 25, indicating that this is the part of the county where Benjamin Scarboro may have lived. There is no Benjamin Scarboro family in the listing for North Carolina or South Carolina in this census, but he shows up in both the 1830 and 1850 census for Montgomery Co. Assuming that Benjamin Scarboro is the father of John Scarboro, this creates a difficult situation. There are a few Scarboroughs in the listing that could be a grandfather of John, with Benjamin living at home, but this seems unlikely. EBW 8-21-07
