3 | Book entitled North Carolina Troops 1861-1865: A Roster, by Lewis H. Manarin[?]. Page 585, with the heading "Co. I, 37th Regiment, N.C. Troops" lists two members of the King family. George W. King was a private, residing in Mecklenburg County and enlisted in Iredell County at the age of 24 on August 15, 1862. He was present and accounted for through February, 1865. William J. King was a private, residing in Mecklenburg County and enlisted in Iredell County at the age of 22 on August 15, 1862. He was wounded at Chancellorsville, Virginia May 1-4, 1863. He returned to duty in November or December of 1863. He was captured near Petersburg, Virginia on 2 Apr 1865, confined at Point Lookout, MD, until released on 28 Jun, 1865 afte taking the Oath of Allegiance. |
