In case you haven't noticed from my prolonged absence here, I am on travel. I'll continue to be on travel for another week. This morning at the airport I managed to fumble my ID down into a crack between the luggage scale and the counter. They had to call maintenance to come and disassemble the entire scale to retrieve it. AWESOME.
Jeremy and I went out to a small rocky knoll near my house which offered a clear view out over town towards the overlook where the fireworks happen every year. It was far enough away (about 2 km) that the noise didn't bother me, but was close enough that I could get good photos. This was the first time I've tried to do this, and I was pretty happy with how they came out.
Some photos had a lot going on:
while others caught just a single explosion:
Anyway, I took a couple hundred photographs and got so many good ones I'm not sure how to choose what to upload. More later, at some point. This was also the first time I've used my new camera body, and I must say I'm happy with the results.
In lieu of actual mountain climbing this weekend... I uploaded photos from two weeks ago to my gallery. Click the image below to get to the gallery.
Plans to summit Capitol Peak this weekend have been scrapped following a pretty serious roll of my ankle last night in handball. I took a bunch of ibuprofen right after it happened and kept it on ice, but when I went to sleep the anti-inflammatories wore off and now it is swollen up like a balloon. So instead of mountain climbing, I get to spend my four day weekend sitting around the house with my ankle in a brace. Sweet.
