The two times that I've had caviar, I really enjoyed it. I think I had baltic caviar both times, it was a much darker color than the stuff you have there. That was when I was an omnivore, though. I don't know if I'd try to imbibe it now.
Yeah this is salmon caviar, and it tasted like a mixture between brine and rotting fish. And it has that weird texture like crunchy balls that explode with extra dead-fish smell in your mouth. Mmmmm.
I won't be trying the salmon caviar again. But when I go to Moscow I'll give the black caviar a whirl. I'm not overly offended by the little tiny orange roe that you get on sushi, so I'm assuming that there is a wide spectrum of caviar.
The baltic (I hope that is correct, it's been a long time since I had it) caviar I had was slightly fishy, not stinky, and sorta brine tasting. It was very potent, but not in a bad way. Definitely tasty on hard breads and things like that.
So ... what did you guys think about this?

HA! That sequence is classic! I made the exact same face last week while eating Salmon Roe for the first time at a local sushi joint.
