Push-a da pen and sling-a da ink

so getting up at 6:00am was supposed to be unbearable because i went to sleep at 2:30am. i guess i was anxious, though, because i woke up on my own at 4:30 and couldn't get back to sleep.

so yeah, two hours of sleep. ouch.

these e-tickets rock. i just walk up to the counter, show them an id, give them my bag, and i walk on the plane. i love technology.

the flight to minneapolis was on 2 hours and 10 minutes, which is really fast. i had a 2 hour layover in MSP, so i hung out in the airport with my mom who had come out to say hi. airport food court orange juice is not good.

i love flying, but landing makes me nervous for some reason. landing in a DC-10 (capacity 350) is smooth and hardly noticeable. landing in a RJ-85 (capacity 50) is creepy.

doc said he'd send someone out to the airport to get me. i was sorta hoping it would be someone that i was friends with or at least had hung out with before. but he sent chris ma, who i've never really been friendly with.

so the ride into cedar rapids was sorta uncomfortable, not to mention the classic smell of cedar rapids that pervaded everything.

chris dropped me off at peterson and there i ran into ehsan hoque wearing a suit. probably the last person i expected to see first... but whatever.

i walk into peterson and immediately, the mini-reunions start. everyone wants to know "how's MIT?"

when i went into doc's office with a "yo!" he shook my hand and immediately said "you owe me ten bucks." "what for?" i ask. "you're buying a physics club T-shirt."

he's shameless. the purchase ended up being a good one, because i didn't bring a shirt that i wanted to play ultimate in.

i checked into the alumni house, then went back to physics and met a lady who was a class of '48 physics major. doc and i took her on a tour of campus to see the new buildings. she was there when old st. clair burned down and the 'new' one was built. whoa.

i wandered around campus for awhile and found more people and told them all that MIT is difficult and i enjoy it, etc. i should have just made a recording of it.

saw lots of old friends and got a few dirty looks from some jocks coming out of greene. oh well. ended up in dan & charlie's apartment (which incidentally was dean and i's apartment after freshman year) playing mario cart on n64. charlie and i went out for taco bell. yum. haven't had taco bell in a year or so. no bell in cambridge.

when i finally went to bed, it was 2:30am, and i was so out of it. i was awake for 20 hours today after only 2 hours asleep last night. ouch.

as predicted, i met several people that i knew and they said hi to me but i couldn't remember their name.
