Jack Florey

i slept like a rock. i didn't wake up until 1:00pm and that felt great. i woke up feeling refreshed for the first time in ages. tom came home from philly shortly after.

i pretty much pissed off all of today, i didn't work on my research at all. helen called in the evening and we went out for ice cream. she was on the way home from chicago (where abie is from) to jersey, where her parents live.

after ice cream, we went roof and tunnel hacking. we wandered all over campus and found lots of new spaces, and she showed me "lobby 3" hidden in the top of main campus. we found a door to the roof of 26 that was not only unlocked, but wedged open with a cinder block. 26 is the 6 story building with the radio telescopes on it. for some reason i was having a real problem with vertigo, though i've never had that problem before.

we went to the subbasement of 9, which i had only peered into once before. apparently, this is sort of a special location for the MIT tunnel hackers, there are a number of fancy murals painted on the wall in one corner glorifying the art of tunnel hacking.

one is a parody of a jack daniels ad featuring "jack florey," a non-existant MIT personality famous for his hacks.

"Jack Florey" Comments

It does my heart good to see that the spirit of Jack Florey is still in East Campus
