Saturn & Jupiter

2005.03.08

Bob and I drove up to the caldera with the LX200 and set it up on one of the pull-outs. It was relatively clear but there was a slight breeze. The conditions were good for visual work but the breeze was too much for photography. The motion of the image due to wind vibration was many arcseconds. The wind was preferrentially pushing the DEC axis to higher declinations and the STV was unable to correct for this when tracking.

The only pictures we took were of Jupiter and Saturn, both of which looked very good through the eyepiece, but the images on the camera were blurry and uninspiring.
